What would be the best venue to sell collectibles?

I’ve got a lot of points and 100% feedback on eBay, but is there anything else where I might have a better chance of getting closer to their value? I know the economy is bad, but I’d still like to get back at least most of what I paid for them. Some of my items are a retired sculpture and artist dolls.

Consignment shops. Or build a web site with fixed prices.

As you likely know, collectibles have a limited market in that they really only have a high value to a limited population. Outside that group, the items hold little to no value/interest.

Take for example a baseball card. You get some rookie card from the 1900′s and to a select few it’s worth more than a car, while you would just use it for a coaster.

E-bay, for the most part is really a buyer’s market. It’s hard to get a good value there. For most things, you need to think of e-bay as a big garage sale.

I don’t know enough about your dolls to offer specific advice (and even if you named them, I doubt I’d know enough to help. However, in your area, do they have craft shows or perhaps a church sponsored parking lot sale (where the church goers all bring stuff on the same day for a big group sale)? Either of those may be an option. I’m not sure about building a special website…how would be advertise it and get enough traffic to stop by and purchase…not sure it would be worth the effort.

As you mentioned, you’re going to have a hard time in the current economy. I do wish you luck though.

Your second answer is very good and right on the money. I would suggest trying Craigslist too. You can get some local attention that way and save people money by avoiding shipping.
Tough times though..no doubt. I’m a power seller and my sales are probably about half as much as they were last year at this time. Collectibles are a tricky market too, as value is not always consistent. Good luck!
